Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her marine biology education at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, when she started working aboard the ship F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner, which was transformed into an ice-fish tender was owned by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard married Aritan in 1999 and the couple have teamed up in fighting for their company. They both believe in conservation and profiting from sustainable resources within the seafood industry. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributorship in Philadelphia in the year Bossard returned from living back at home with her daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. The husband of the business has a lengthy experience in the industry of fish, which often keeps them separated from each other for five months or more. This is when they are focusing on their environment and financial objectives. Bossard's daughter Isabella aged 12 and son Andre, age 10, come back each year for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position throughout the salmon wild season. In the course of two months, Bossard and her daughter Isabella utilize hooks and lines to hunt for the salmon they want to catch. Aritan will then sell their seafood for processing locally. Amanda Bossard, Anchor/MMJ of News 12 Brooklyn and News 12 Bronx has worked on these stations since November of 2015.
